Alignment, Assists and Adjustments Training

OVERVIEW
This training will offer the student the opportunity to learn alignment, adjusts and assists under the tutelage of Stewart Gilchrist who has been teaching hands on Modern Postural Yoga for over 25 years.
By attending this training participants will be:
Made aware of: (a) health and safety issues (b) risk assessment (c) issues central to inappropriate touch and “Me Too” (d) the need for a relevant legal disclaimers.
Able to provide alignment, appropriate assists, adjusts and use of props for a variety of warm ups and Surya Namaskara A and B.
Able to provide alignment, appropriate assists, adjusts and use of props for a wide diversity of asanas and their connective vinyasas within a required sequence.
Given a detailed introduction to the use esoteric alignment and the function of chakras in a vinyasa class.
Provided with a safe and considerate environment and an invaluable opportunity to gain important hands experience of alignment, assists and adjusts under the expert guidance, knowledgeable and authoritative teaching of Stewart and his assistants.

Eligibility and Prerequisite
This training is for Yoga teachers who want to gain hands-on and theoretical experience of alignment, assist and adjusts in a Modern Postural Yoga practice.
Accreditation
The training is counted towards the 40-Hour Continuing Education through the Yoga Alliance.
40 Hours Continuing Education digital certificate will be provided after completion of the full training and required homework. All the modules must be attended in order to receive the certificate.

LEAD TEACHER
Stewart Gilchrist
Stewart has been teaching hands on Modern Postural Yoga for over 25 years. In that time he has acquired a wealth of experience from around the world in the practices of Astanga Mysore, Jivamukti and Vinyasa Krama. He a has a Masters degree, MA in Traditions of Yoga and Meditation from SOAS University where he is a current PhD Candidate.
Stewart has been a Senior registered Yoga Teacher and Trainer Pro with Yoga Alliance professional for many years and has trained over 500 teachers at 200/300 and 500 Hr level. He teaches in London and regularly in India, Sri Lanka, Vienna, Paris, Dublin, Dubai and many other Yoga centres globally.
The field of Alignment, Adjusts and Assists is something that Stewart, and all his teachers that have been certified by East London School of Yoga, have gained a highly esteemed reputation for a high standard of safe and non-intrusive hands-on assistance within the international Yoga community.

Course cancellation by student
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to school@indabayoga.com and verbal requests will not be considered.
If you cancel your place prior to 29th June 2025, we will offer a refund minus 15% admin fee.
If you cancel your place after 29th June 2025, Indaba is unable to offer you a refund. Indaba will endeavour to offer the course place to another student if the course is sold out and there is a waiting list. If your place can be offered to someone on the waiting list, Indaba will issue a refund minus 15% admin fee.
Injury/medical conditions (includes Covid-19 and pregnancy) before the training starts: In the difficult circumstances of you suffering a serious injury or any medical conditions before the training starts, Indaba School of Yoga team will support you and work out the best way for you to continue the course. You may still attend sessions and either adjust poses or just observe the classes.
Pregnancy: You cannot attend this course if you are still in your first trimester. You can attend this course if you have passed the first trimester. You are required to inform us in advance.
If you are unable to participate in the training in any capacity due to the gravity of the condition or if you are still in the first trimester, we can offer a refund minus 15% admin fee after receiving a certificate from a fully qualified medical practitioner. Please note that in order to consider a refund we need to be notified immediately.

Please note that in order to consider a refund we need to be notified immediately.
If you leave the course for any reason not related to a medical condition after it has started, no refund or deferral will be granted.
Course cancellation by Indaba
In the unlikely event of extenuating circumstances, Indaba reserves the right to cancel the course at any time. If the course is cancelled prior to the course start, the course may be rescheduled and if students cannot attend the new course then 100% refunds will be made. If the course is cancelled part way through the course, Indaba will rearrange the remaining modules of the course and if this is not possible for students to attend, we will refund the remaining course on a pro-rata basis.
Course Policy:
Indaba reserves the right to change the training venue at its discretion. Please note that students will not be eligible for a refund due to such changes. Any adjustments to the venue will be made solely at Indaba's discretion.
Pets and children are not permitted in the training venue. Please refrain from bringing them, as we cannot grant access to the room, and our team is unable to look after them during the course. No refunds will be issued if this results in you having to leave the training.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your credentials and contact details on your Indaba account are accurate. All training-related communication will be sent using the details registered on your account.
If you arrive late, you may be denied entry, causing you to miss part of the training and become ineligible to receive the certificate. Refunds will not be issued for late arrivals.
It is mandatory to attend all of the teaching modules on the course in order to receive the certificate.
Polite and respectful behaviour toward staff, teachers, assistants, and fellow students is mandatory. Failure to comply may result in removal from the training program without the opportunity to complete it, and no refunds will be issued.
